RTI tracking software

One record forevery carrier.

Rotion gives every returnable transport item a digital identity. Roll cages, dollies, CC trolleys and Dolav boxes run in one system, with custody per partner and recovery when they go missing.

Q · A

What is RTI tracking software?

RTI tracking software records where each returnable transport item is, who holds it and how it moves between distribution centers, carriers, stores and repair partners. Rotion does this per item for mixed fleets of roll cages, dollies, CC trolleys, pallet collars and Dolav boxes, on QR, barcode, RFID or GS1 GRAI codes. Balances, losses and repair cycles then come from scans in one system.

01The problem

Why RTIs go missing.

Roll cages and trolleys are the carriers nobody counts. They stay behind at stores, ride along with other loads and end up in someone else’s yard.

P.01

Mixed fleets, mixed records.

Roll cages sit in one spreadsheet, Dolav boxes in another and CC trolleys in a pooling portal. Nobody sees the whole fleet.

P.02

Carriers keep what they bring.

Empty roll cages and dollies travel back with carriers and get used for other customers. Without custody per handover, the loss has no owner.

P.03

Damage goes unrecorded.

A broken wheel or bent frame takes an RTI out of service. Without repair history, you buy new ones instead of fixing the old.

02Fleet

One fleet, five types, one record.

Each RTI type runs its own loop with its own rules. Rotion keeps them in one record, so you see where each type spends its days and where it leaks.

03Carriers

Carriers hold the gap.

Every roll cage is scanned onto a truck and off it again. Rotion compares what each carrier collected with what it returned, week by week, and writes the statement when the gap stays open.

05Repair

Repair beats replacement.

A driver or store scans a damaged item and picks what broke. Rotion books it to a repair partner, keeps the repair on the item’s record and brings it back into the fleet.

N.01

Carriers are part of the loop.

Handover scans show which carriers bring empties back and which reuse them elsewhere.

N.02

Repair beats replacement.

Repair history per item shows real service life, so you fix what can be fixed and buy only what you need.

N.03

Transport packaging has reuse targets.

Under PPWR (Regulation (EU) 2025/40), calculation rules for reuse apply from 30 June 2027 and reuse targets from 2030. Per-item cycle counts are the evidence.

Straight answers.

What operations and supply chain teams ask before they book a demo.

Book a demo
Q.01What counts as a returnable transport item?

Any carrier that moves goods and comes back to be used again: roll cages, dollies, CC trolleys, pallet collars, Dolav boxes, pallets, crates and trays. Rotion tracks all of them in one system, each with its own rules.

Q.02Can we track several RTI types in one system?

Yes. Mixed fleets are the normal case. Each type carries its own dimensions, deposit and repair rules, and balances can be read per type or across the whole fleet.

Q.03Can we use the codes already on our RTIs?

Yes. Rotion reads QR codes, barcodes, RFID, BLE and GS1 GRAI identifiers, so relabeling is usually not needed.

Q.04Do we need to replace our ERP or WMS?

No. Rotion runs alongside your ERP, WMS and TMS and fills what they do not cover: item-level history, custody per partner and loss patterns. For a comparison of tools, see the RTI tracking software buyer guide.

Q.05How does Rotion reduce RTI loss?

Every item has a holder and a location at all times. Autopilot flags carriers and stores holding RTIs too long and proposes a statement or a pickup, so recovery happens before a write-off. Read the 5 points where assets disappear.
