E-commerce packaging tracking
Rotion gives every reusable shipping box, tote, mailer and bag its own identity. Each package carries the order it shipped with, the route it came back by and the number of trips it has made.
E-commerce packaging tracking records where each reusable shipping package is, which order it went out with and how it came back. Rotion does this per package for corrugated PP boxes, totes, mailers and bags, on a QR code, barcode or RFID tag. Return rates, deposits and trips per package then come from scans instead of estimates.
A reusable box goes to a different address every trip. Most of them come back. The ones that do not are hard to find.
Once an order is delivered, the box sits with a consumer or a client you cannot see.
Boxes from the driver, the post and a dozen return points arrive in one pile, with no trace of who sent which.
Without a count per package, you cannot say whether a box paid for itself or when it should retire.
Packers, drivers and return points scan with any phone or the readers they already have.
The packing scan ties the package to the order number.

The package is with a consumer or a business client. Days out count from delivery.

The driver, a return point or the post brings it back. The return scan releases the deposit.

The return hub checks the package, logs the wash and sends damaged ones to repair or retirement.

When a return point has no reader, the consumer scans the box and the return point code. That scan marks the box returned and releases the deposit. Without a link to a consumer, Rotion keeps a running count per retailer instead.

Divide what a box costs by the trips it makes, and you know the cost per shipment.
Return rates per route show whether drivers, stores or the post bring more packages back.
The hub check logs damage per package, so you see which routes wear boxes out.
Any reusable shipping packaging: corrugated PP boxes, totes, mailers, bags and protective inserts. Each type carries its own deposit, return window and wash rules.
No. A printed QR code or barcode is enough. Rotion also reads RFID tags and GS1 GRAI codes already on your packaging.
The return scan does it. A driver, store or return point scans the package, or the consumer scans the package code and the return point code where there is no reader. Rotion marks the package returned and tells your webshop or payment provider to refund the deposit, or credits the consumer’s deposit account.
Then Rotion counts per retailer: packages out and back, by post and every other route, as a running balance. Reminders to consumers need the link to the order.
Start with one packaging type from one fulfilment center. Put a code on each package, scan at packing and at return, then add types and return routes on the same setup. Most teams go live in weeks.

Hi. Ask me anything about Rotion: how it tracks crates, pallets, kegs and IBCs across partners, what Autopilot does, pricing, or PPWR.
